
Courses of study
The State School of Higher Education in Zamość offers 3-year (6-term) courses for a BA degree and 3.5 (7-term) courses for a BE degree. There are also many postgraduate courses.
The curricula in all the courses have been drawn up in accordance with the ECTS grading scale, which has been developed to provide a common measure and facilitate the transfer of students and their grades between European higher education institutions, by allowing national and local grading systems to be interchangeable.
BA courses
English Philology
The graduates can use English on the C1 level. They have basic knowledge of literature, culture and history of the English-speaking countries, as well as linguistics and the methodology of teaching English.
Computer science
Practical studies allow to acquire knowledge in exact and technical sciences. The curriculum incorporates: terminology, concepts, theories, principles, methods and techniques as well as tools used in solving professional tasks related to broadly understood information technology, as well as processes of planning and implementing IT systems, experiments, both using computer simulation methods and in real environment.
The aim of the study is to prepare graduates to work in the IT industry in numerous software companies operating both in the country and abroad.
National security
The graduates have knowledge and practical skills in the field of social sciences, including economics and law, which are essential for their understanding of the complex, interdisciplinary nature of national security. They are prepared to carry out various tasks related to national security, such as the maintenance of public order and crisis response. They also develop ethical and social awareness, prompting them to get engaged in activities promoting public welfare and accept social responsibility.
Finances and accounting
The graduates have knowledge of finances and accounting, which they are able to apply in their professional careers. They also develop social competence, enabling them to act in an ethical way.
Pedagogy
The graduates have knowledge of psychology and pedagogy, which is essential for their understanding of personality development, socialization and the educational process. In the course of their studies, the students familiarize themselves with the methodology of teaching, counselling and child rearing, which they apply in practice. Depending on the specialization chosen, the graduates can work as pre-school and primary school teachers, family support assistants, school counsellors, tutors, consultants in foster care centres, and others.
Tourism and leisure
The graduates have interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of social sciences, including geography, law and economics, which is essential for the development of the skills related to the ways of organizing people’s free time. Depending on the specialization chosen, the graduates can work in physical culture clubs and organizations, leisure and fitness centres, spas, holiday and health resorts, hotels and guesthouses, tourist farms, landscape parks, state and local government administrative units, social organizations, foundations, and others.
Nursing
Our full-time, three-year (6 term) course in nursing is structured to integrate both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Students develop their practical nursing skills in simulation labs at our premises and in clinical environment in a wide range of healthcare institutions. The diploma exam is designed to give recognition of both theoretical knowledge and practical competence in nursing. Career opportunities for the graduates of our nursing program include employment in both public and private healthcare institutions.
BE courses
Mechanical engineering
The graduates have comprehensive knowledge of the technology, structure and operation of machines, accompanied by the practical skills necessary for the usage of modern computer-aided techniques of design and production. This enables them to work as specialists in modern industry, both in big factories and small workshops.
Logistics
The graduates have general knowledge and skills necessary for logistics operations management and solving logistical problems using engineering techniques and methods. In the course of their studies, the students familiarize themselves with the ways of controlling transfer of information, managing financial, human and material resources, and develop their understanding of logistical customer service. They also learn about trade and business economics, the process of planning, organizing and controlling the flow of resources, including the flow of goods from the producer to the consumer, and effective enterprise resource management. The graduates’ knowledge of economics and company management will be complemented by their managerial skills, enabling them to quickly make decisions and predict their consequences. As a result, being familiar with modern logistical strategies, the graduates will contribute to building their company’s competitive advantage.
